Alchemy was a branch of experimental theology.

HistoryEdit

Alchemists made several important discoveries, including the actions of acids. In 1668, Randolph Lucy set up an alchemical laboratory on Juxon Street in Oxford.

However, the fundamental framework on which alchemy was based was flawed, and the field was largely abandoned in favour of chemistry by the mid-18th century. Sebastian Makepeace was known as "the famous Oxford alchemist". Around 1997, he was still practising alchemy in his laboratory in Jericho.[1]
