The Yenisei River was a river in Lyra's world. Lee Scoresby, two years before meeting Lyra Belacqua in Trollesund, met one of John Parry's team whilst flying over this river.[1] After Lord Asriel opened a window into the world of Cittàgazze, the ice in the river melted.[2]
When going to see Stanislaus Grumman, Lee Scoresby paid for storage for his balloon at a port at the mouth of the river and hired a boat to go further up towards the Tartar tribe the Yenisei Pakhtars. Three days later, Lee found that the Imperial Guard of Muscovy had occupied the port and had seized all food and transport that the residents owned.[3]
